    -
This "Cultural city revitalization project: To Turn Cheolam into a History & Culture Market Exhibition" is a story about the existence of the history of sad destiny behind the appearance of splendid civilization. The sad eyes and daily life of 'Cheolam' are recorded by the artists, local people, and the public through various methodologies so as to look back, memorize and heal us in the current time being.

Fifteen domestic and foreign artists are participating in this project, which consists of three parts as in Part 1. Cheolam, Remember (Kim Jongyoul, Part Nohcheol, Baek Kyumjoong, Oh Donghwan, Jeon Jehun), Part 2. Cheolam, Reminisce (Kim Kidong, Sara Arrigoni from Italy, Lee Inhu from France, X-RAY from Japan, Jeong Jaeho) and Part 3. Cheolam, Sing (Kwon Soonik, Kim Youngseob, Dadi Setiyadi from Indonesia, Hayoon Jay Lee from the U.S.A. and Piao Guangxie from China).

In particular, this project is a collaborative work of artists and local people. The purpose of this project is to record the history of a place called 'Cheolam', whereby the uniqueness of the place can lead to a cultural regeneration of the city together with its residents. It is a healing art project where local youths and local residents together memorize, recall the coal mining village of Cheolam and exhibit collaborative works.

Cheolam Coalmine History Village is a lifestyle museum and art house space that can reexamine the past and present of the Korean coal industry. It is expected to fill 11 spaces with the cooperation of each participating artist and local residents, and show the traces and spaces of the forgotten history in an artistic way.
